Greenwich Millennium Village - Construction

Location: Greenwich Peninsula | LONDON

Client: Greenwich Millennium Village Ltd (Countryside & Taylor Wimpey)

Timeline: January 2013 - January 2020

Project Value: £700M

Role of FCM: Provision of a team of structural and M&E Clerks of Works

Project Description:

Greenwich Millennium Village is a residential-led, mixed use riverside development on the Greenwich Peninsula including an energy centre. Blocks are a mixture of 10 and 4 storeys, formed around a new Ecology Park boasting plenty of open space and manmade lakes.

The collection has more than 2800 new homes varied in size and type. The design was influenced by the environmentally sustainable ethos and use of modern technologies and building techniques - Greenwich Millennium Village was the first large scale development in the UK to achieve an EcoHomes ‘Excellent’ rating.

FCM have been involved from phase 1 into phase 6. The construction throughout is a concrete frame with precast columns, in situ concrete floor slabs and roof, a concrete block internal skin and an external skin of face brickwork. In addition to the construction of the building, the site benefits from the energy centre being connected to the district heating system, which involved major infrastructure works.
