Mount Pleasant Halls, Cambridge - Construction

Location: Huntingdon Road | CAMBRIDGE

Client: Geoffrey Osborne Ltd

Timeline: July 2018 - August 2019

Project Value: CONFIDENTIAL

Role of FCM: Provision of a team of building and M&E Clerks of Works

Project Description: Mount Pleasant Halls is an innovative student accommodation development set around two courtyards with a concrete slab frame construction and brick elevations under flat roofs on a landscaped site.

The space has been cleverly optimised to provide 199 standard en-suite rooms and 73 studio flats, for a total of 272 student beds. Each room has an en-suite shower room or wet room - the shower rooms built off site as complete pods and then craned in to the building. This provided a quick, efficient construction process and ensured a consistent, high-quality finish. Rooms facing the road have integrated air handling and noise reduction units. Each floor will be accessible by lift and included in the new facilities are kitchens, a study area, launderette and IT hub room. Clusters of eight standard rooms are grouped around high-specification communal living areas.

Practical Completion took place on the 9th August, in good time for students and academic staff members to move in for the 2019/2020 academic year.
