St Paul's School - Construction

Location: Barnes | LONDON

Client: Metis Projects

Timeline: July 2019 - January 2020

Project Value: £23M as part of a £114M multi-phase redevelopment

Role of FCM: Provision of general building Clerks of Works services

Project Description: St Paul's School is a selective independent school for boys aged 7 to 18, founded in 1509 by John Colet. St Paul's was ranked in 2001 as the leading boys' school in the country academically.

The majority of the senior school site has recently been refurbished, including a new astro-turf pitch, Drama Centre and RIBA award-winning science building. The two new-build General Teaching Buildings have been completed for early 2020, delivering contemporary dining, library and classroom facilities overlooking the Thames.

The construction of the general teaching buildings presented the challenge of constructing the building within a live school environment, including the logistics of planning safe and efficient ‘just in time’ deliveries, minimising noise and dust, and generally allowing the school to maintain their high standards and ensuring safety for staff and pupils.

The value of the second General Teaching Building project was over £20M, as part of the School's multiple decade-spanning, £114M multi-phase redevelopment.
